Vision Statement

The vision of Christ the King Parish Nurse Ministry is that all members of our community will increase their awareness of the link between faith and health. Spirituality is an essential component of health. It is though relationship that we first experience the healing power of love and it is through community that we nourish those relationships ad experience harmony.

The Parish Nurses are registered nurses who volunteer as health promoters focusing on the care of the whole person. Through education, health counseling, resource referral, advocacy and other means, parish nurses empower parishioners to be active participants in their own health and wellness. The parish nurses facilitate the following programs and are also available for one on one meetings.

Caring Circles/Care Teams

A group of volunteers working together to offer practical, emotional, and spiritual support to individuals and families with health care concerns or other special needs.

Activities may include transportation to the doctor or the grocery store, household or yard chores, errands, meals, social outings, visits, phone calls, or a time for caregivers to have a respite or break. Team members simply do what they can, when they can, but in an organized approach.

Visitations:

Visiting those members of the community who are at home, the hospital or nursing home and can't get out on their own. Volunteers are always welcome for this ministry.

Advanced Directives:

RN's available to answer questions and help create Advanced Directives and deposit them in the Choices Bank.

Elizabeth Ministry:

Friendship support for expectant and new parents. Nurses and moms also provide medical and practical help and support.

Martha Ministry:

Volunteers are needed to sew, quilt, crochet, and knit items for those in need. Everyone is invited to join the fun and fellowship even if you don't know a needle from a ball of yarn.
